The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. has formed a relationship with Travel Guard International, a leading travel insurance program supplier, to provide our customers with a worldwide comprehensive travel insurance plan.
Why purchase Travel Insurance?
You're in a foreign country and in need of immediate medical assistance. How do you find a doctor who speaks your language?
"In South America last year I twisted my ankle during a game of volleyball on the beach. Leading Hotels and Travel Guard found us a doctor that spoke English and got me there right away. Although I spent the rest of my vacation on crutches, it was good to know that in an emergency, I was covered for medical assistance."
You arrive at your destination, but your luggage does not. How will you get your expenses covered while your luggage is delayed?
"We arrived in Europe for our honeymoon and we panicked after realizing that our luggage had not arrived, and the airport staff was not very helpful. We immediately called the number on the back of our travel insurance card and they found our bags in 48 hours and covered our expenses while we waited. Thank you for saving our honeymoon!"
Travel insurance covers emergencies while traveling, but what about those that are left at home?
"It was bad enough that my husband Bill had to be hospitalized with food poisoning toward the end of our vacation in France. On top of everything else we had to think about our dog Baxter at the kennel back home. That is where our travel insurance benefits came in. They helped out with the extra cost for the kennel, and we felt better knowing that Baxter was being cared for during our extended stay."

How To Become A Leading Hotel
Excellence in the art of hotel keeping is the cornerstone of The Leading Hotels of the World brand. It is our most cherished and protected value.
Hotels seeking membership with The Leading Hotels of the World or The Leading Small Hotels of the World must apply for admission, as the organization does not solicit new members. All Leading Hotels must operate in a manner consistent with the standards that are generally understood and accepted within the industry as "five-star" or "superior deluxe".
From among the applications submitted by prospective hotels, a limited number are chosen to undergo the next phase of the acceptance process - a rigorous inspection of the property, its facilities and guest services performed on an incognito basis by Leading Quality Assurance. The property must meet all of The Leading Hotels of the World's exacting Global Luxury Standards with respect to accommodations, service, cuisine and features.
Following the inspection process, reports are filed with the Executive Committee whose members then vote for acceptance or rejection. To ensure ongoing compliance with The Leading Hotels of the World's Global Luxury Standards, each member is re-inspected at least twice during the term of its three-year contract. Hotels are presented with a comprehensive report of the inspector's findings, providing a benchmarking tool for training and future inspections.
Members, as well as other luxury brands, may retain Leading Quality Assurance on an à la carte basis to measure their own quality assurance issues and to ensure a timely review of the standards required to maintain membership in The Leading Hotels of the World and The Leading Small Hotels of the World.
